Overview
This is a small group rafting and scenic driving tour through the famous Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve with a scenic float trip (no whitewater) through the home of the largest bald eagle congregation in the world. Thousands of bald eagles travel here to feed on salmon in the fall and winter. In spring and summer watch for eagles nesting and raising their young.

Meeting and Pickup
There are three docks in Skagway. Please proceed directly to the greeting area at your arrival location. Your guide will be holding a Rainbow Glacier Adventures sign with a large rainbow logo. If you do not know which dock you are on, please let us know.IMPORTANT: If you do not immediately see your guide, stay at the greeting area and wait. Do not walk toward town.Railroad Dock (Tender or Shuttle Dock) If arriving by tender, walk up the ramp and wait by the "Small Boat Harbor" sign.If arriving by shuttle bus, remain at the shuttle drop-off area.Broadway Dock Walk to the end of the pier in front of your ship, near the start of the train tracks.Ore Dock Walk up the ramp and past security to the greeting area.Hotel & B&B Guests Meet your guide directly in front of your lodging. Look for the Rainbow Glacier Adventures vehicle.PLEASE DO NOT USE Google or Apple Maps, or the map link provided by Viator. These will send you to the wrong location. We pick you up at the bus loading area nearest your ship.Please note our tours depart on time and cannot wait for late arrivals.If you have not located your guide by 15 minutes before your tour departure, please call the tour operator.
What To Expect
Treat yourself to a small group rafting and scenic driving tour through the famous Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. The drive is incredibly scenic: glacier-clad mountains and colorful wildflowers line the highway. Arrive at the river in the heart of the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve, approximately 45 minutes away. Don your life jackets, listen to your guide’s safety talk, board the raft and leave the road and civilization behind. You are immersed in the Alaskan wilderness, floating the silent river channels. This is a scenic float trip (no whitewater) through the home of the largest bald eagle congregation in the world. Your expert guide will push the raft along, explaining the intricate balance of nature that makes this a unique and special place. You do not have to paddle; your hands are free for your camera and binoculars. Keep an eye out for other wildlife besides bald eagles. ……moose, otters, brown and black bear, and even wolves, call this Preserve their home.
You will spend approximately one and one half hours floating the river. After rafting, your guide will select a scenic spot to enjoy a picnic lunch on your way back to Haines and/or back to your ship in Skagway.

If you have any doubts about becoming seasick on the water, we recommend taking a Dramamine® Motion Sickness Relief tablet the night before your trip. Some people recommend taking it the night before your cruise and then again that morning so you will not feel so drowsy.
