Overview
Meet your guide in Catania and set off for Etna. Your first stop will be Mount Etna, where you'll discover its geology: eruptions and lava flows. You'll hike along quiet trails, away from the more crowded viewpoints, exploring dormant craters and volcanic formations and learning how successive eruptions have shaped the island. Admire the flora and fauna: endemic plants and hardy shrubs. You'll enter a spectacular lava cave with helmets and flashlights to observe the underground formations and discover Etna's hidden geology. You'll stop at scenic overlooks to admire the Valle del Bove. Enjoy a light lunch of typical local products, then continue to Taormina for a stroll through its charming streets, historic buildings, boutiques, and terraces. Visit Isola Bella Park and the coast, enjoy the views of the Ionian coast, and then return to Catania. This full-day excursion combines natural and geological wonders, cultural attractions, and local flavors.
