Pantheon

The Pantheon is an ancient Roman temple located in the heart of Rome, Italy. Originally commissioned by Marcus Agrippa during the reign of Augustus (27 BC – 14 AD), the current structure dates back to around 125 AD, during the reign of Emperor Hadrian. The Pantheon is renowned for its iconic dome, which was the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world until the 20th century. One of the most remarkable features of the Pantheon is its oculus, a circular opening at the top of the dome that allows natural light to enter the building. The interior of the Pantheon is characterized by its vast, open space, and it served as a temple dedicated to all the gods in ancient Roman religion.Over the centuries, the Pantheon has been repurposed and is now a Christian church, officially known as the Basilica di Santa Maria ad Martyres.
