Overview
Combine humpback whale watching in Samaná Bay with beach time on Cayo Levantado, also known as Bacardi Island, on a full-day excursion from Punta Cana. Depart by boat from Las Cañitas, search for whales in their natural sanctuary and continue to the island for lunch and time to swim or relax.
Round-trip ground and boat transportation, a professional guide, lunch, listed drinks and admission are included. Whale watching is seasonal and ends March 30; from April 1, the itinerary does not include whale watching. Sightings depend on natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed. Your pickup time is confirmed for your hotel location.

What To Expect
This full-day adventure offers a combination of nature, relaxation, and authentic Dominican culture.
Upon arrival at the departure point in Las Cañitas, you will board a boat and set off across Samaná Bay. The first stop is the Humpback Whale Sanctuary, where you will have the opportunity to observe these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. This portion of the tour lasts approximately 45 minutes.
After the whale watching experience, the tour continues to Cayo Levantado, also known as Bacardi Island. This tropical paradise is known for its white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed with a delicious beachfront lunch featuring fresh seafood and traditional Dominican dishes.
For the next few hours, you will have time to relax on the beach, swim in the turquoise waters, or explore the island at your own pace. A designated semi-private area with beach chairs will be available for your comfort.
As the afternoon comes to an end, the group will board the boat for the return journey to Las Cañitas. From there, transportation will be provided back to your hotel.

As an active member of the Dolphin SMART program, we do not have physical contact with the dolphins on Samaná Whale Watching and Bacardi Island from Punta Cana. We watch them in their natural habitat from the boat.
Dec 2022If you have any doubts about becoming seasick on the water, we recommend taking a Dramamine® Motion Sickness Relief tablet the night before your trip. Some people recommend taking it the night before your cruise and then again that morning so you will not feel so drowsy.
