13:10 - 13:30 Explore the German gun battery at Longues-sur-Mer, part of the Atlantic Wall, an extensive system of coastal defenses built by Nazi Germany along the coast of occupied Western Europe to repel an Allied invasion.Stretching for approximately 1,670 miles (2,700 km), the Atlantic Wall included bunkers, gun emplacements and other fortifications. The Longues-sur-Mer battery was one of the key German coastal artillery positions defending the Normandy coastline on D-Day, June 6, 1944. Its four large naval guns were capable of targeting Allied ships approaching the landing beaches.

Pointe Du Hoc Memorial

17:20 - 18:00 Arrival at Pointe du Hoc, a prominent cliff between Utah and Omaha Beach. This point was important because it was the highest land between Omaha and Utah beaches and could thus fire upon both of them. The site was a gun battery, fortified with concrete casemates and gun pits, forming part of Hitler’s Atlantic Wall defences. Visiting the Pointe du Hoc You will learn about the 2nd Ranger battalion sacrifice to take this crucial gun battery on the cliffs of Omaha Beach on June 6th 1944. Many of the original fortifications and bunkers remain on the site and are open to the public, including the fire control casemate, on top of which there is a monument to the 2nd Ranger Battalion.18:00 After Pointe du Hoc visit, relax on the journey back to Paris in your comfortable, air-conditioned Mercedes minivan. The drive takes approximately 3.5 hours, covering around 290 km (180 miles), with a short stop at a highway rest area offering cafés and restrooms along the way.
