Explore the vastness of one of Maui’s most iconic landmarks with a hike at Haleakala Crater. Experience the ethereal energy of the national park as you traverse the 4-mile (6.4-meter) hike, which covers a lava trail lined with rare native plant species as well as expansive desert-like scenery. What To Expect
Hike one mile down and back up Sliding Sands Trail which begins at the 10,023 foot summit of Haleakala Crater. Next hike one mile down and back up Halemau'u Trail which begins at 8000 feet elevation (weather permitting).
