This led to the name Euromast. The design of the restaurant with viewing platform is based on the crow's nest in a ship's mast (and sometimes also called that) from which one can look out over great distances. The restaurant was raised to a height of 100 meters by jacking in five days. The tower was equipped with a replica of a ship's bridge at a height of 32 meters, giving the public an impression of navigation equipment and a chart room. The tower is made of reinforced concrete and has a diameter of 9 meters and walls of 30 centimeters thick.
